Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs) in Los Angeles
IEEs are conducted in collaboration with the public school district and include review of the district’s offer of FAPE, placement, and services. An IEE may be appropriate when parents disagree with a district assessment, believe their child’s needs were not fully identified, or have ongoing questions about eligibility, services, placement, or supports.
IEE services may include direct assessment, school-based observations when permitted, review of records, parent and educator input, written findings, and attendance at up to two IEP meetings when included in the evaluation scope.
